In 1996, Janneke van Gorp (1975) graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam. She travelled, mostly on her own, to China, Russia, Mongolia, Africa (Amsterdam-Dakar by car) and Patagonia. These journeys inspired her in her work. She worked in Buenos Aires for three years, and moved back to Amsterdam in 2004. She has had several exibitions, among them: Art Rotterdam 2005, Galerie 59, Amsterdam, Galerie 56, Tilburg. The SBK Art Foundation has work from Janneke in their collection. In her work she reflects on daily moments and things that just happen. Human beings are almost always the central theme made intriguing by Janneke's talent for analytical observation combined with a quirky sense of humour and obvious affection for her subjects. Next to her personal work, Janneke also works on commissioned paintings with striking results.
